Video should a part of any business no matter what size. In the not so distant past a small business, particularly an online business venture, could get away without the use of video. The internet has evolved and the use of web 2.0 technology and video is very accessible. Many marketers feel that a website alone or a blog and a website are enough to promote their business. This may be true in some cases but why ignore the facts and let the competitors take advantage of these valuable resources.
The uses of video are endless. Video can be used to communicate, instruct, entertain, and advertise. Video can be used on websites or on other sites as a means of making others aware of a website or product. It gets down to statistical facts and how information is shared and absorbed. Experts agree that a person retains only ten percent of what they hear, twenty percent of what they see, and fifty percent of what they see and hear. Video is just a way of increasing the absorption of your message.
In the early days of the internet, video was reserved for marketers with huge budgets and the technical firepower to go along with it. Now it's possible for the work at home professional or amateur to use video cheaply, easily and as often as needed, not to mention the popularity of video sharing sites like Youtube. It's amazing how many intelligent business owners still shirk the idea of video.
Video is probably the best way to communicate a thought or idea to the general public. Look at media as a whole. The internet world and television world are slowly merging their world together. This is largely in part to the available technology that allows video to be streamed live, easily uploaded and downloaded. News is available, entertainment, and marketing capabilty. There may be a small learning curve for the inexperienced but there are vast affordable resources and tools that make it possible for everyone to have a video presence online.
Just imagine what this makes possible for the fledgling entrepreneur who may have not otherwise had an outlet. Real estate professionals and bands are already taking note and using video to promote themselves. Why not the small business or website owner. Just about any business can benfit by using their imagination and getting a video online. It doesn't even have to be extravagant, just a simple video to increase exposure on the net.
A home computer or laptop and an internet connection usually supplies all of the resources needed. Using a webcam or camcorder to record a message or create a simple commercial is all that you need to make a connection with an audience. A very simple video that is optimized in such a way can reach a huge audience or very specific targeted market. This can create a connection with potential customers and clients or just creat brand awareness. Most of all it can generate business; business that otherwise may not have existed.
Video will continue to become more widely used and those who ignore this will be forgotten tomorrow. The potential with video is incredible and perfect for any business online or off to reach a world market or their own little corner of the world.
