Warner Bros. has released the first TV spot for its movie based on Lego toys, using the word “awesome” half a dozen times in the fast-paced ad.
The lead “Lego” characters are voiced by Chris Pratt and Will Ferrell. A Lego version of Batman also makes an appearance in the spot.
The computer-animated adventure-comedy is due out Feb. 7. “Lego” is produced by Dan Lin and Roy Lee and directed by Chris Miller and Phil Lord Directors (“Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs”).
While Warner Bros. continues to roll out character posters for The Lego Movie, the studio has debuted a domestic and international TV spot for this animated comedy. The domestic video highlights the Lego characters' favorite song, "Everything is Awesome," while showcasing Emmet (Chris Pratt) and some of his fellow master builders working at a construction site. The international spot features superheroes such as Wonder Woman (Cobie Smulders), Batman (Will Arnett), Superman (Channing Tatum), Green Lantern (Jonah Hill) and even Michelangelo from the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. Stay tuned for more footage and posters from directors' Phil Lord and Chris Miller's animated comedy, debuting February 12.
We’re not sure exactly what comedy hand-grenades Phil Lord and Chris Miller, the crazed minds behind 21 Jump Street’s Korean Jesus and the Cloudy With A Chance Of Meatballs’ Speak And Spell monkey, have in store for us on The Lego Movie, but whatever it is, it’s not going to be average. With a little luck it will, in the words of this new Michael Bay-aping TV spot, be “awesome”.
The Lego Movie finds a band of rebels trying to fight against the dictatorial designs of Lord Business (Will Ferrell), who believes that every part of the plastic universe should abide by his rules and all minifigs should know their place.
They recruit a seemingly ordinary chap named Emmet (Chris Pratt), whom they believe is the Master Builder destined to lead them to victory. Sadly for everyone involved, it appears that Emmet is the single most ordinary citizen of the Lego dimension. He’ll need to trust in the likes of Vitruvius (Morgan Freeman), Wyldstyle (Elizabeth Banks) and even Batman (Will Arnett) to help him realise his destiny.
