Boost Your Business With Video Marketing

Video is one of the most effective marketing methods business owners can use to bring in new leads and
customers. If a picture is worth a 1000 words, it's hard to calculate what a good video is worth.
Although a video submitted to YouTube and the other video directories may in fact rank well for a local
search and have links directing back to your site, the real benefit of the video comes when a potential
customer watches it. No other marketing method has the power to convey your message as video does.
Here are a few tips and reminders to enhance your video marketing efforts:
1. Buy an inexpensive video camera like the Flip or Kodak Zi6…and learn how to use it to upload videos.
Either of those cameras makes the process very easy.
2. Shoot videos of yourself promoting your business, your employees doing actual service work, tours of
your business, etc.
3. Video testimonials are probably the single most powerful video marketing technique. Get in the habit of
asking satisfied customers if you can shoot a short video testimonial. Have a simple and easy script for
them to follow where they address what product or service they bought from you and what pleased them
most about it.
4. Short videos are best. Keep the videos in the 1 to 3 minute range…short, sweet, and directly to the
point is best.
5. Repurpose your videos as much as possible. Submit them to YouTube and the other video directories
of course. But also place them on your website. The easiest way to do that is using the embed option
YouTube offers.
6. Don't neglect adding a keyword rich description and title to the video (This is how Google decides to
rank the video; at this time they do transcribe and analyze what the video is about in order to rank it.) Do
not simply describe your video with a sentence or two. Instead, use at least 4 or 5 well optimized and
descriptive sentences. Even writing a short and original article for the description is better. YouTube
allows longer descriptions; some of the other directories do not.
7. Be sure to add your web site's full URL at the beginning of the description. If it is first and in the form of
YouTube and some of the other directories will automatically make it a link. But it
must be in the full URL format
As with any other form of Internet marketing, don't simply make a couple of videos and call it good. Put
into place a plan for regularly creating and distributing videos about your business along with new
testimonials. Again, the benefits of adding video to your marketing mix cannot be overstated!
