When it comes to watching movies, I don't think there's anybody else on this planet that is as much of a critic as I am, so I literally devour every movie trailer or review I can get my hands on in search of those elusively wonderful hits that either leave me in tears, laughing uncontrollably, or thinking deeply about the the characters or plot twists. I've been down just about every road there is with companies like Redbox and Netflix scanning their latest releases for anything new that I can get my hands on that will pass the litmus test for being a movie that will keep me glued to my TV set for the entire flick, but lately there's an old video friend of mine that's made a resurgence due to it's buyout from Dish Network. That old friend is Blockbuster. Blockbuster was my 7 day a week stop-by where I knew I could always find new and old movies that would satisfy whatever my mood, but when Netflix made life easier with their DVDs by mail with no late fees, well I just had to let Blockbuster go. Then came Redbox with their $1 per night DVD rental kiosks, and I found the perfect supplement to my Netflix fix. As my entertainment budget grew I found myself purchasing both a Blu-Ray player and an LCD high definition TV, so not only could I get movies piped directly through the internet to my TV in dazzling HD, but I could also enjoy some HD action on my Blu-Ray if I didn't mind paying a little extra.
I'd all but forgotten my glory days with Blockbuster until this past week when news broke about the October promotion for Dish network where they announced their latest product: Blockbuster Movie Pass. What makes Blockbuster truly great is that if you can't find a particular movie anywhere else, 9 times out of 10 you'll find it with Blockbuster since they literally have the largest DVD collection in the world, plus they also have the advantage of getting new movie releases long before Netflix or Redbox get their hands on them. But what REALLY caught my eye was how they also now have on demand movie streaming that you can get on your internet ready TV, on you desktop PC, your laptop, and last but not least, your constant companion and can't-do-without part of you - your mobile device/smartphone/tablet. Movie Pass gives you over 4000 on demand movie choices that you can watch right there on your iPad, Droid, or whatever wonderful piece of technology you've secured. Of course when it comes to watching ANY video via your cell phone or tablet, unless you've got the 4G connection, some image quality will not be as good as it is for those who're paying the $ for that 4G broadband wireless connection, but who really cares when you're watching some great movie without interruptions there at the laundromat while your unmentionables are on spin dry? You'd think that getting the absolute latest movies sent right into my living room via my internet connection or on my Droid would be enough to send me hurtling toward the phone to make that sign-me-up call to the nice folks at Dish since they're throwing in this movie magic into their latest promotional deal, but then you come to the part where the cheesy guy in the Ronco commercial says "but WAIT, there's more!!!", and that moment is now, and I'm not that cheesy guy, but instead your voice of reason when it comes to scouting out the best deals in movie entertainment. Here's the little extra the Blockbuster Movie Pass gives you, another 20 extra channels of movies and HD splendor!! Dish Network has this package upgrade they've had a lot of success with known as Dish Platinum, and now they've integrated 20 channels of Platinum into the deal so in retrospect, here's the breakdown:
Well, there you have it, the big story on Dish's latest product release. Now all you have to do is click on one of those links I threw in there below this article, go to their site, and give them a call. Believe me, you'll be happy you did.
