NHL Playoffs Daily 2021: Toronto Maple Leafs try to rally after John Tavares injury

The Toronto Maple Leafs play their first game after captain John Tavares suffered a disturbing concussion in their Game 1 loss, and the Florida Panthers try to rally in the Battle of Florida as all-day hockey returns to the 2021 Stanley Cup playoffs on Saturday.

Meanwhile, the Boston Bruins and Colorado Avalanche pushed their opponents to the brink on Friday night, and the Winnipeg Jets went up 2-0 on Connor McDavid and the Edmonton Oilers.

Talking Points: Boston Bruins Beat Caps 4-1 To Take 3-1 Series Lead

The Boston Bruins responded to a cheap shot on defenseman Kevan Miller with a four-goal outburst in the third period en route to a 4-1 win over the Washington Capitals in Game 4 and a 3-1 series lead. The Bruins can now clinch the series in Game 5 in Washington DC on Sunday night.

GOLD STAR: David Pastrnak. The 2020 co-Rocket Richard winner finally got off the schneid by scoring a huge goal 29 ticks into the third period. The Boston Bruins winger almost go his first goal.

Bruins win Game 4 to push Capitals to brink of elimination

BOSTON (AP) -- The Boston Bruins had to cut short one goal celebration to skate to the defense of a teammate, who was taking some abuse from oft-suspended Capitals forward Tom Wilson.

They didn't fight back.

They just kept scoring.

After 15 periods of neck-and-neck hockey, the Bruins finally broke one open in their playoff series

against Washington on Friday night, getting goals from David Pastrnak and Charlie Coyle 34 seconds apart early in the third period to win 4-1 and send the Capitals to the brink of elimination.

Brad Marchand and Matt Grzelcyk added power-play goals for Boston, which was 3 for 5 with the man advantage.

"We kind of had a mindset of, 'Hey, let's make these guys pay,' in response to the penalties they were taking," Bruins defenseman Charlie McAvoy said. "You always want to score ... but I think we responded well to the penalties they were taking and ultimately making them pay on the scoreboard."

Tuukka Rask stopped 19 shots for his 54th playoff victory, breaking the Bruins franchise record that was set by Hall of Famer Gerry Cheevers in 1980. Boston took a 3-1 lead in the best-of-seven series and can advance with a victory in Game 5 in Washington on Sunday.

"It doesn't really matter who is the hero every night," said Pastrnak, who netted his first goal of the series and was originally credited for Marchand's goal. "As long as you win, you feel amazing."

After three straight overtime games in which neither team managed as much as a two-goal lead, the Bruins made it 2-0 on Pastrnak's power-play goal 29 seconds into the third. The 25% capacity crowd had barely settled down before Jake DeBrusk's shot bounced high off the glass behind Ilya Samsonov and landed in the crease for Coyle to poke it into the net.

Behind the play, Wilson put a few extra shots on Nick Ritchie -- one of many scuffles in the game. For the second straight game, Rask was the target of a Capitals hit; Bruins defenseman Kevan Miller was sent to the hospital by a high hit from Dmitry Orlov.

"Their guy left his feet, borderline late, and drove right under his chin," said Bruins coach Bruce Cassidy, who added that Miller left the rink for the hospital. "It's unfortunate for Kevan, but we'll see how he is."

Alex Ovechkin made it 3-1 with 15 minutes left in the game when his shot was deflected into the net by Bruins defenseman Brandon Carlo. It was Ovechkin's first goal of the 2021 playoffs and the 71st of his postseason career, moving him past Steve Yzerman and into a tie with Bryan Trottier for 16th most in NHL history.

But Grzelcyk restored the three-goal lead on Boston's third power-play goal, with five minutes left.

Samsonov, whose overtime turnover in his playoff debut helped Boston claim Game 3, made 33 saves for Washington. He struggled to hold onto his stick -- losing it three times in the second period -- and had to skate off a knee injury at one point but remained in the game.

Samsonov was pulled for much of the last three minutes, but the Capitals couldn't get any closer despite having a 6-on-4 advantage for much of it.

"Just think, we didn't really bring it today," forward Lars Eller said. "We were off. Now we've got 48 hours to regroup here and I want to see a different team in Game 5 at home. I believe we can do that. I've seen it before."

The Capitals went almost 20 minutes without a shot on goal in the middle of the game and were outshot 37-20 in all. But it was still scoreless until Marchand tipped in Pastrnak's shot on the power play with 12 minutes left in the second.

"They scored power-play goals tonight," Capitals coach Peter Laviolette said. "Some of the penalties I don't like, some of them are part of the game. It's physical out there. At the end of the day, there's got to be discipline."

KNOCKED OUT

Miller appeared to bang his head against the ice when he fell. Orlov was given a double minor for roughing, and the Bruins finally broke through just 33 seconds into the penalty.

"Millsie's a huge part of our team; we wanted to do that for him," Grzelcyk said. "We wanted to make sure to do it the right way, on the scoreboard, and not take stupid penalties."

The Bruins announced after the end of the period that Miller would not return and was taken to the hospital for "scans and evaluation."

Those Who Wish Me Dead | Movie Review | Movies DECODED

Those Who Wish Me Dead | Movie Review | Movies DECODED

Welcome back to Movies DECODED! This is your source for movie and pop culture news! Today, we’ll be discussing the brand new movie, “Those Who Wish Me Dead”, only in theaters and streaming on HBO Max for 31 days. From director Taylor Sheridan comes yet another pulse pounding thriller. Based on the book of the same name, “Those Who Wish Me Dead” takes on what may seem to be an overused or simple plot at first and puts a unique spin on it. Almost guaranteed to make audiences

anxious and excited, the film displays a story that isn’t one of a kind when compared to today’s modern releases, but still a breath of fresh air from the average thriller formula. The plot follows Conner Casserly, played by Finn Little, a boy whose father exposed and identified corrupt authorities, and is now being hunted down by the bad guys. The plot also follows Hannah Faber, played by Angelina Jolie, a firefighter who is traumatized by a failed mission, and is determined to protect Conner. The cast also includes Jon Bernthal, Nicholas Hoult, Aiden Gilen, Medina Senghore, and Tyler Perry, all who portray intriguing characters who are heavily followed throughout the film. The plot’s central focus on its characters is probably its most definitive trait. The story takes the time to build up the backgrounds and foundations for all characters, even if, by the end of the film, the plot will have felt a little too character centric. The film just spends too much time in exposition and rising action that the climax and ending feel abrupt. Unfortunately, the story also has one or two plot holes, leaving viewers confused and unsure about the fate of the movie’s characters. Therefore, the movie also feels very shortened, offering a story with a lot more potential than what it was able to give in its hour and a half runtime. Disregarding the film’s negative qualities, it is easy to recognize its positive traits, being the cast’s performance, the movie’s determination to connect audiences to its characters, and the ambitious story. The movie helped audiences have an emotional connection with the characters they would spend over an hour with. The actors and actresses who portrayed said characters were able to convey strong emotional responses, natural actions, and reactions. Notably, Angelina Jolie shines as Hannah, delivering the role seemingly effortlessly. The same can be said about Finn Little, who, although he has little screen time, joins Hollywood’s list of very talented child actors. Unlike other films and shows, where children may be stereotyped, Little gives a much more realistic performance, also due to the film’s great scripting. The movie also has a couple of action sequences, which were very enjoyable, even if short-lived. Many of them were delivered very menacingly by the film’s antagonists, played by Nicholas Hoult and Aiden Gillen. Another honorable mention is the film’s VFX, which is used mainly for fire, but still plausible. All in all, “Those Who Wish Me Dead” has an amazing cast, and great story, that unfortunately cannot peak as high as it possibly could at its short runtime and heavy weighted plot. However, the film is still worth viewing in theaters or at home on HBO Max. What did you think of “Those Who Wish Me Dead”? content it would mean a lot to me if you all can like and share this review it helps out the channel a lot but also appreciate the support and in the comments let me know if you all were excited for this film and once you've seen it let's discuss your thoughts on your pros your cons your thoughts on the performances the story were you surprised by the reveal did you have a good time with this film let's discuss it all in the comments below so going into this film that this film has had some trouble productions there were some re-shoots due to the test screening being kind of poor there were multiple delays it was supposed to come out in theaters last year but obviously we know what happened with uh movies coming out in theaters last year and then ultimately just about four or five months ago netflix picked it up and here we are discussing it starting off with my positives look man i'm gonna be honest i was pretty invested in this story this is a psychological thriller and i love a good thriller and a good psychological one at that so briefly just to give you all the synopsis of this film a agoraphobic woman living alone in new york city begins spying on her new neighbors only to witness a disturbing act of violence it is in that synopsis is in those characters it's in their backstories that you learned in the film that really got me invested in this film and it's just like for example meeting our main character anna played by the incredible amy adams who we'll talk about here in a second it's meeting anna and seeing her deal with this anxiety to not want to go outside and seeing her deal with the pressures of just recently separating from her husband played by anthony mackie and her young daughter seeing her deal with all that in the meantime taking these new pills is really kind of messing with her head and this is like do you believe her do you not believe her that got me so invested it's meeting the characters like the russells who just moved across the street you know we have gary oman as the head of the family we have his young son as well as his wife played by julianne moore and it's just like the mystery of this family can you believe them is there some skeletons in their closet you meet a character like david who's the tenant who lives in the basement of amy adams who has some things that he's kind of keeping a secret so it's all that stuff that made it such a thrill ride to watch this film and just kind of going back and kind of pointing out the performance starting off with again i can't stress enough i'm such a big fan of amy adams i think she's one of the best actresses working alive and i love seeing her in dramas i love seeing her in anything but give me an amy adams drama sign me up and seeing her character anna deal with this various levels of depression dealing with this anxiety not wanting to go outside and you learn why she doesn't want to go outside and where that anxiety comes from and when we see kind of that moment it's a really good dramatic moment it's an earned moment it's an emotional moment but just kind of looking at her character you felt at least for me this sense of helplessness you felt this sense of loneliness and when it comes to the telling kind of unraveling and her being so convincing and conveying this character in regards to you want to trust her you want to believe everything she has to say but you know that these numes that she's been put on is really screwing up her head so it's just that emotional roller coaster that you're going through with this character that made it such a thrill ride and again amy adams just slays his role she truly conveys this woman that's tackling with emotional issues uh as well as the the the stuff that she's going through mentally and she does such a great job in this role and i also want to point out you know this this cast is stellar man a gary oman you have a jennifer lee you have a julianne moore you have brian tyree henry we have white russell anthony mackie i mean this cast goes on for days and it's in those little smaller performances we don't get and i'll talk about that a little bit later as much from the supporting cast but when they're on screen they make their presence failed and particularly going back to the legend himself gary olman as mr russell he is that he plays the role perfectly because he's that one guy that from the appearance he seems to have all his things in order his family seems to be loving and whatnot but you know that he has this type of behind closed doors as morning appears and moore's than meets the eye he really kind of conveys that character pretty perfectly as well as other supporting characters like white russell who has a small role but he is i'm always impressed by wyatt russell i can't believe this film has not one but two captain americas in this film but i thought that he had an interesting element of surprise with his character david again david is the person that lives in the basement of anna and he has um a bit of a temper on him and i'll just kind of leave it at that but also some skeletons in his closet and then you transition to a character that you kind of really kind of root for and you and you feel like he wants to help out anna and that's detective little played by the incredible brian tyree henry so again even though not all those characters supporting characters have the biggest most medius role in this film they leave a pretty good impression and that's just to name some of the character everyone else in this evolved this film did a pretty good job which brings me to the director of this film joe wright who i personally thought had a really strong direction within this film and i thought it was a concise direction as well he really did a good job of capturing this sense of confusion as well as really adding in almost like this play-like this stage-like play approach was kind of a grandiosa approach to the story and i really approached i really enjoyed the way he directed this film and i also have to applaud the set design uh this the creation of the house was really kind of a symbol of what amy adams character animal was going through it's just nice beautiful house but it's kind of not being kept well up up to date there's mold in the house the carpet's a little bit dirty there's dishes all over the place which really kind of speaks to her mental state so i really enjoyed how the house kind of represented her mindset and also i have to pay i i really want to i appreciate it being a psychological thriller fan all the different homages paid to classic thriller psychological thrillers in particularly 1954's alfred hitchcock's rear window this this film not only uh pays homage to but there's literally a scene in the film that shows amy adams character watching so i really kind of appreciate being a fan of this genre and lastly the score the composer of this film the legend annie elfman composed this film and he added another layer and dimensions to this film and really kind of brought out the mysterious kind of elements within this film so a lot of good things to say about the film i do have some criticisms that i'm going to kind of mention here i'll go into first and foremost more times than not when you have a ensemble cast like this someone's going to get the short end and the stick and just me being selfishly a fan of all these actors there are some actors that i wish had a little bit more to do in the film i mentioned gary oldman brian terry henry anthony mackie wyatt russell again they make their presence feel but i just wish they had a little bit more to add to the film because again this is personally being shellfish i'm a fan of those actors i just wanted a little bit more from their roles but the one thing that i do that i did have a problem with with this film the first act very compelling second act ramps things up the thriller aspect the mysteries the twists the turns the reveals come and kind of really come through in that second half there's a moment in the third act and i won't give too much away but it's a tonal shift from we're going from psychological thriller to kind of a straight-up slasher almost horror film which i'm a big horror fan but the handling of that felt a little clunky it felt the kind of felt force now i said that this film was plagued by some reshoots i feel like the third act was kind of plagued by reshoots because it felt like it was kind of misplaced and kind of came out of left field and i just say not only did i not feel like the scene fit but the actor opposite of anna's character played by amy adams the actor in this particular scene i wasn't a fan of the switch it was almost too hammy and it just kind of felt force and i just wasn't a fan and it's like maybe about a 10 minute moment in the third act which things are kind of ramping up at this point you get a big moment you get a really sad emotional moment but it's in that 10 minute scene and when you see the film you'll know what i'm talking about it just didn't work for me personally but that was probably my only gripe that i really had with the film so before i give you my overall thoughts and my score for this film make sure to like the video share the video leave your thoughts in the comments and of course subscribe to the channel if you haven't already hit the bell that way you don't miss any other content with all that being said overall this is a throwback psychological thriller that kept me invested and engaged throughout my viewing experience amy adams delivers a real and honest and believable performance as well as the stellar cast the direction was great the score and the set design was another added layer of appreciation the third act takes a bit of a dip in the storytelling but still managed to end on a high conclusion with that being said i'm gonna give the woman in the window a solid three and a half out of five now again based on delays reshoots not having the best uh you know test screening i was pleasantly surprised by this film and as a fan of psychological thrillers i was pretty invested with this movie so that's my thoughts on this film let me know what you all thought of it once you've seen it what'd you think of the performance the storytelling the direction the set design what were some of your criticisms let's talk about it all in the comments below again make sure to like share comment subscribe hit the bell that way you don't miss any other content there's a lot of stuff that's coming out in the coming days so i hope you all are checking out my other reviews that i've done for movies as well as tv shows so thank you guys for watching this review hope you're staying safe we'll see you in the next video

Kingsman: The Secret Service Movie Review

STORY: The Kingsmen aren't answerable to governments nor are they externally influenced. When one of them is killed thanks to agent Harry's (Firth) judgement error, he backs his fallen comrade's son Eggsy (Egerton) to become a Kingsman. Later, they will have to thwart tech tycoon Valentine's (Jackson) evil designs, involving mind control and mass murder.

REVIEW: Colin Firth's performance as an action man is nothing short of a revelation. When the impeccably-suited Harry first meets Eggsy while the latter is a young boy, he gives him a medal bearing an engraved telephone number, for whenever Eggsy is in dire circumstances.

Many years later, Eggsy, now directionless , dials it after a squabble with the law, gives the secret code ( " Oxfords, not Brogues " ) and is freed from police custody, no questions asked. Harry then rescues Eggsy from a brutal beating (Harry's motto being an emphatic "Manners. Maketh. The Man"), busts some smooth moves and Eggsy is impressed enough to want to become a Kingsman. Headed by Arthur (Caine) and trained by Merlin (Strong), Eggsy and the other recruits including a woman, Sophie (Cooks on), face a series of gruelling tests before becoming agents.

Part Bond parody, part serious and a whole lot of camp, you can't help but laugh (there are plenty of 'LOL' moments) at the obvious 007 dig when Eggsy tells a bartender that he'd like his martini with gin, not vodka ("obviously"), stirred a certain number of times whilst staring fixedly at a fresh bottle of vermouth!

Egerton delivers and Jackson is perfect as the villain Valentine whose environmentally-conscious concerns conceal a devious plan for global genocide. His sidekick Gazelle (Boutella) is a vamp plucked straight out a Quentin Tarantino wet dream as does a scene involving hyper-stylized mayhem in a small-town church. Mark Hamill (Luke Skywalker, anyone?) also shows up as a genius scientist. Bulletproof brollies that fire bullets, dart spewing wristwatches and cigarette lighter grenades aside, there's a smooth balance of good humo u r, butt-kicking action and originality too. Kingsman: The Secret Service is a breath of fresh air in the spy movie genre.
